Alumni Exhibition and Related Events
Hello and WELCOME LFAS Visual Art Alumni!
I hope that you are happy and thriving in your life and creativity, regardless of your chosen endeavours. Hopefully this site will give each one of you the opportunity to reminisce, reconnect and share. In June of 2008 our school – The Langley Fine Arts School – graduated our 15th grad class… a milestone of sorts. It was an event that got me thinking once again about a big idea that I’ve had kicking around in my head for a couple of years now.
I would like to organize and create a major art event that would culminate in a Langley Fine Art School Visual Art Alumni Exhibition in a prominent venue in Vancouver. Along with the exhibition I think there could be a series of interesting talks and panel discussions organized around some exciting and relevant themes. The major purposes of the exhibition and related events would be to:
- promote you and your chosen field of artistic and creative work (We now have ex-students working in fields as diverse as animation, architecture, fashion design, photography, film and sculpture, to name a few.)
- highlight the school and its programs
- provide an opportunity for all of our grads to network with one another
- foster the enhancement of our Legacy Visual Art Scholarship Fund through an art auction of past students and faculty works.
I have already started to work with a small group of grads from different graduation years to develop this project. At the current time our Alumni Team includes the following people: Dan Nikitiuk, Ross Richardsen, Shevawn Desrosiers, Zoe Pawlak and Lorenzo Pepito. Please let me know if you are wanting to get involved. We are currently planning this event for the late spring of 2013 – our 20th Year Anniversary,and we need your help!
First of all – in order to make an exhibition proposal to a gallery we need some information from you and some examples of your recent work. If you could send us 2—8 examples of your best work that would be wonderful! Please send your images as jpg’s roughly 5" x 7", 72 dpi. Identify them with your name, title of the work, medium, dimensions and year of completion. We are hoping to collect your images and information as soon as possible (June 2010 the latest) so that we can include you in our initial gallery proposal and submission.
Secondly – we are creating a database of information from all of our Visual Art Grads, and we would love it if you could send us some of your current information. Below is an online form that you can fill out and return to me.
